Activities

Windsurfing and Kite Surfing
Tarifa is the windsurfing capital of Europe. The expansive golden beaches to the north of the town (Playa de los Lances and Playa Valdevaqueros are ideal for these sports). For more information see our windsurf and kitesurf pages.
The following are recognised surf centres:
Club Mistral at the Hurricane Hotel
Club Mistral at Hotel Valdequeros at Playa Valdequeros.

Horseriding
Horses can be hired to ride in the mountains or on the beach from the Hipo centre at the Hurricane hotel or from stables located on the road to Punta Palona.
For more information see our horseriding section

Take a trip to Morocco
There is a daily ferry from Tarifa to Tangiers so why not take a day trip and visit the souk in Tangiers for the day. You can, with ferry company, book organised day trips to Morocco including guided tour of the local places of interest, lunch and time to explore the souk, 2 day tours are also available. At present it is only posible for EC Nationals to take the ferry from Tarifa to Morocco. This is because the Tarifa port will not expected to be a 'Schengen' frontier until spring of 2003. Until then Non EC nationals may purchase a ticket in Tarifa but must take the ferry from Algeciras.

Whale-watching
A wonderful opportunity to get close to whales, dolphins and other sea mammals, in their natural habitat.
Firmm, the foundation for information and research on marine mammals, takes expeditions out into the Straits of Gibraltar. For more information see our Dolphins and Whales page
