We help animals...

...in laboratories

We oppose all animal experiments because they are unscientific as well as cruel. Our campaign for humane, non-animal research is supported by leading scientists, doctors and MPs. Our resources have been used as example texts for national exam questions at GCSE level. We continue to produce high quality factual reports, political briefings and educational material.

...on factory farms

Animal Aid's special reports and undercover operations expose the cruelty and exploitation involved in animal farming. Our UK-wide network of MarketWatch monitors is especially important in challenging the suffering of millions of animals bartered annually in Britain's antiquated livestock sales.

...in the pet trade

Hundreds of thousands of animals are dumped or left in sanctuaries every year - the unwanted fall-out from the trade in 'domestic' and 'exotic' pets. Following our concerted campaigning, a major DIY chain stopped selling thousands of animals annually through its in-store pet departments; and numerous reptile and birds fairs - trading in large numbers of wild-caught exotic birds - have been cancelled. We have also blocked proposals for several reptile zoos.

...hunted for sport

Animal Aid's campaign against the annual mass production and 'sport shooting' of millions of pheasants is educating the public as to the squalid and cowardly nature of this bloodsport. Already one major rearing and shooting operation has been closed as a result of our campaigning. Many others that were not paying local taxes are now doing so, thanks to information we have passed on to the authorities.

...in the wild

Numerous wild species are under attack in Britain because they are considered to be 'alien' or commercially inconvenient. Ruddy ducks, grey squirrels, Canada geese, hedgehogs and badgers are among the wildlife being slaughtered. More than any other national group, Animal Aid defends the most vulnerable species.

Our Killing Fields report revealed the scale of cruelty and devastation caused by the pheasant shooting industry.

...used for entertainment

Around 300 horses are raced to death annually in the UK and thousands more are disposed of because they fail to make the grade. Our race horse campaign has achieved massive national and regional media attention - and thrown the spotlight on the industry.

...by going vegetarian

Every March is Veggie Month. Animal Aid's increasingly important initiative is now supported by thousands of health centres, food shops, restaurants, libraries, schools and businesses throughout the UK.

Whipping the horses

Our 2004 investigation - A Hiding to Nothing - proved that whipping is pointless as well as cruel.
