Factory farming
animals have been slaughtered for food while you have been
reading this page. In the UK alone, approximately 900 million
animals are slaughtered for food each year - not including fish.
That's around 2.5 million every single day.
The vast majority of these animals will have been
born and raised in the dark, dirty, cramped conditions a factory
farm, their lives filled with pain and suffering. All will have
died a violent death at the slaughterhouse.
Animal Aid exposes the horrific conditions in Britain's factory
farms, and campaigns for better animal welfare in order to lessen
the suffering they endure whilst alive. Read our series of factfiles
on the suffering of farmed animals and send for a markets
action pack. But above all, we promote vegetarianism
and veganism as the best way anyone can help to stop cruelty
to animals. For more information check our 8
good reasons to go veggie and our guide
to going dairy-free.
Every March is Veggie Month, a celebration of the cruelty-free
diet, in which an increasing number of health centres, retailers
and libraries now participate. Our special Veggie
Month pages are packed full of information - from health
and nutrition to animal
welfare and the environment
- plus the Go Veggie video, free
veggie packs and much more.
