Getting active for animals

Animal Aid members and supporters work really hard to support us and at initiating their own local campaigns. We are really grateful to everyone for what they do, but it is the nature of our enterprise that we always have to urge you to do more!

The action alerts and news bulletins on this website include ideas of how you can help our current campaigns, but there are lots of things that are not time specific.

Here are a few suggestions of ways in which you might like to help further.

Campaign

  1. Join a local Animal Aid or animal rights group. Contact Kelly at our head office for details of your nearest group.

  2. Set up a new local group yourself if there is not one in your area. Contact Kelly for information about becoming a local contact and making your group a success and read our guide to setting up a group.

  3. Subscribe to our email list if you would like to receive regular emails about the latest campaigns by Animal Aid and other groups.

  4. Do a street stall - a great way of reaching the public and spreading the word! Click here to order a free Stall Pack, containing leaflets, posters, stickers and petitions.

  5. Mobilise local residents and fight a planning application for a factory farm, pheasant breeding unit etc. Click here for advice and information.

  3. Join our Club Draw. In return for a minimum payment of £2 per month you can win big cash prizes every two months. We can send you an application form on request.

Spread the word

  1. By writing letters to newspapers, you get your message to tens of thousands of people. Monitor your local paper or one of the nationals for suitable issues, and then write to the letters page if and when the chance arises. Read our guide to writing letters to newspapers.

  2. Buying Animal Aid T-shirts and other merchandise is a good way to spread the word to other people. Animal Aid members receive 10% off all goods purchased. Click here for the online shop.

  3. Spread the word to young people by becoming a school speaker. We can provide resources and training, and we can also contact local schools on your behalf. Tel Ann Harriman or Carole Backler (01732 364546 ext. 221 or 234) for more details or send for a school speakers guide.

Get involved

  1. Become an office volunteer. If you live in or near Tonbridge and have time during the working day, we always need more help in the office. Click here for the volunteer form.

  2. Apply for a job. Click here for current vacancies or send a CV to Mary Shephard to be considered for future vacancies.

Take part in a street collection

Could you shake a tin for a few hours to raise money for our campaigns? Click here for more information about our street collections,

Raise funds!

  1. Help to run a street collection. Contact Karin at our main office if you would be willing to co-ordinate or help with a collection in your local area, usually on a Saturday in summer. We can do the paperwork and deal with permits from your local council.

  2. Organise a sponsored or other fundraising event. We can provide information and sponsor forms. We can also write to Animal Aid members in your area if you would like more people to take part. Click here for our fundraising factfile. Popular examples of events include jumble sales, fetes, discos and barn dances.

  3. The most straightforward way to give to Animal Aid is to leave a legacy, especially as we can now pay for you to draw up your will! Please call Richard on extension 224 for more details or send for a Get Active pack today.

Thank you for everything that you do for animals.

Animal Aid school talk

Animal Aid has a network of school speakers and we always need more people who are willing to go into schools, show Animal Aid videos, give a short talk and answer questions. We can provide training days and videos and leaflets and worksheets so why not give it a go? For more information send for a School Speakers Guide.
