Sponsored walk a huge success!

Thank you to the 50+ people who came to London on June 12 to do our second sponsored walk for the animals with Tony Banks, and thank you to everyone who sponsored Tony to walk the 10 km around Hampstead Heath. So far you have raised more than £8000!

At the walk we presented Tony (Lord Stratford) with a special award and a bottle of champagne for his contribution to the animal rights movement. (Tony very kindly signed the bottle of champagne and donated it to our Christmas Without Cruelty fayre in December.) He cut the ribbon to officially declare the walk open and sent everyone off for the 10 km walk around the Heath. Walking with Tony and friends was a juggling stilt walker who miraculously didn't fall over even with dogs running between his legs!

In between laps, Veggies Catering served up a vegan buffet with plenty of refreshments, and, with a jazz band playing on the bandstand nearby, it made for a pleasant day in the park.

Eileen Kinghorn again turned children into tigers and butterflies with her fantastic face painting.

Feet up and congratulations!

Once everyone had completed the 10 km, they all received an exclusive "I walked for Animal Aid" T-shirt and a glass of Bucks Fizz, and there were lollies for the children.

I would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to everyone that came to Hampstead Heath on Sunday and made the day fun and enjoyable.

Also, a big thanks to Tony for completing the walk and staying to chat with people afterwards.

Thank you to our sponsors

Many organisations and individuals donated their wares or services to the walk and I would like to say a big thank you to them. They are:

Also, thank you to Hampstead Heath for letting us hold the walk in their beautiful park.

Certificates all round

In order to ensure that the event is as big a success as possible, I am very keen to receive sponsorship money that hasn't already been sent in. If you have not done so, please could you send it in to me as soon as you can. Once I receive your sponsorship money, I will send you a special certificate of completion.

The next Animal Aid sponsored walk will be in June 2006, date to be confirmed. Why not email me now to register and I will send you more details nearer the date.
